Samu Cricket Nuts Chili

Entocube, the Nordic leader in insect farming systems and automation, has a secondary retail food brand, Samu by Entocube. The nice folks at Entocube approached us to help with package design for their new snack product, Cricket Nuts Chili.

This was a fun little project. The insect food category was just emerging without established style conventions, so it allowed us to get wild with the packaging concept. We came up with character driven design, a cricket desperado with two chili shooting revolvers. The cricket stares potential buyer (and cricket eater) straight in the eyes. Idea was to challenge buyers to take the plunge and try an insect snack. Illustration was drawn in limited color woodcut style with a matching hand drawn typography.
